What I’ve Learned From My One Year Of Blogging!

Before My Blogging Journey

Its officially been over a year since I started blogging and I wanted to share with you all that I’ve learned. I first started my blog in June 2017. After finishing high school I was desperate for a creative outlet. I wanted to find something where I could be hands-on and overall building something that was all mine. There were so many ideas in my head but no direction on where to start. I began telling my friends about an idea to make a fashion blog. I began sketching looks and gathering people to model for shoots. Thankfully, I had people who were on board to help me create this wonderful platform. The best feeling was seeing my ideas come to life. Outfits that I had drawn or planned in my head were standing right in front of me.

Blog Is Ready For The World To See

When it was finally time to show the world my blog I was both nervous and excited. I was more so excited because my creations were going to be out for the world to see. The feedback I received from friends and family made me feel on top of the world. I was so happy that I had gained the confidence to say “HEY EVERYONE LOOK WHAT I JUST DID!!” It felt so rewarding when I would be shooting looks in public and strangers would make comments about the clothing. I will never forget when I was shooting a look with my best friend at a shopping center and a woman came up to us and told me how she loved the way I styled her!

However, along with all this excitement came the feelings of doubt. I wanted to grow my audience and I was afraid that people would get bored and not be interested in my blog. It’s been hard not to compare myself to other successful bloggers. It’s a struggle to think that you’re not good enough, or that you will never get to where other people are at. Social media can be a confidence sucking hole… if you allow it to be. If I let myself believe that I’m not unique or that I have nothing special to offer the world, then I’m never going to succeed. Success begins with you and the mindset you allow yourself to have.

It’s All A Learning Process

I’ve learned that nothing good will come easy. Blogging is more than just posting a picture with a couple of paragraphs below it, blogging is about putting yourself out there and believing in yourself when some people won’t. There is so much I do behind the scenes that you all don’t see like editing, brainstorming, networking, interacting with other bloggers, and so much more.  Starting something on your own tests how much you really want it. It tests what you are willing to do to succeed in a world full of other people doing the same thing that you’re doing. Most importantly this year of blogging has taught me that chasing your dreams can be emotionally draining. I’ve become frustrated over people in my life not understanding why this blog means so much to me, not being supportive and overall not seeing the potential of my blog.

This blog is just one year old and I can’t allow myself to be impatient when I am just starting to walk into this crazy blogger world. If you have been thinking of starting a blog, do it! The best advice I can give you is to never limit yourself and to stay focused on what you are doing, not what everyone else is doing. It is so easy to become discouraged and to want to just give up, but DON’T! Perseverance is the key to everlasting happiness in my book. Whenever you’re feeling down, remind yourself of your purpose. Why are you doing this? Who are you doing this for? Your blog should always be a fun, free, and creative space for yourself and loving supporters.

Thank you to all of you for reading my posts, and for showing support. I just hope that this family keeps growing and that we achieve great things. Can’t wait for what this next year has to offer. Love you all!!!

Your Friend,

Perla

It is so amazing to read a refreshingly honest post. I just started my blog less than 90 days ago so it’s great to hear the doubt comes with the Territory at the beggining💚

I love this so much!! You are so right about the importance of believing in yourself even when no one around you does. Comparison is the thief of joy, especially in the blogging world because there are so many out there! However, there’s only one you and it’s so important to share yourself and your journey with the world. Great article – so inspiring!! 🙂
